Barbara Jean Hauck Mahern Mohler, 75, of Indianapolis left this earth in the early morning hours of September 6th, 2017, with family by her side. A 1963 graduate of Indiana University in Education, Barbara taught school for a short time but she spent the better part of her life teaching us how to better love. She was a force of nature and threw herself into many roles throughout her life: daughter, teacher, wife, receptionist, mother, singer, sales clerk, artist, florist, golfer, waitress, and wild spirit. Barbara had a passion for painting, hoarding, playing the stock market, animals, liberal politics, sweets, gambling, and never throwing out any food. She had many incredible adventures, including trekking in the Himalayas, camping in the Rocky Mountains, wandering the streets of Paris and listening to live music in Irish pubs.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 32 years, Daniel Mohler, brothers David, Ralph and Robert Hauck, children James, Brian, and Jennifer Mahern, grandchildren, Aidan, Caroline, Connor and Joseph and fur-baby Chauncey.

We loved Aunt Barbara very much and are saddened by the passing. It gives us comfort to know she is happier now. And that we will someday all be together again. Our live to cousins Jim Jennifer and Brian. Hope to see you at her memorial service next Saturday. ❤️
Love to you all!

This obit really captures the essence of bj. She once told me the reason for never throwing out any food or items. You just might need something you have one day. You’ll never starve. She was truly one of a kind. RIP bj.
